Well, if you’re not going anywhere, I’ll stay here too
Some romance scenes are classics for a reason.
The man takes off his coat.
The woman hesitates.
He puts it around her anyway.
Dylan and H get one of those scenes.
“You must be freezing.”
He shrugged off his coat and held it out.
“Don’t be afraid. You look like you need help.”
He stepped forward and draped the coat over her shoulders.
“Well, if you’re not going anywhere, I’ll stay here too. But my coat’s on you now, so be kind.”
But there’s one detail that makes this scene different.
H has just come from summer. Dylan’s world is already deep into late autumn, almost winter.
So yes, the coat is romantic.
But it is also completely necessary.
She really is going to freeze.
And Dylan seems to understand the other problem just as quickly: H isn't the kind of person who easily asks for help. She doesn't trust strangers, and she hates feeling like a burden.
So when she hesitates, he doesn't need to argue with her.
He simply gives her another reason to move.
“Well, if you’re not going anywhere, I’ll stay here too.”
You can almost hear the fine, then I'll stay here and freeze with you hidden inside that sentence.
And of course, H can't exactly let that happen.
So she goes with him.
To the coffee shop.
With his coat still around her shoulders.
And suddenly, the classic romance moment feels a little different—not because the coat is unusual, but because Dylan already seems to know exactly what will make her say yes.
Maybe that's what makes their first real-world meeting so interesting.
He has to pretend she's a stranger.
But sometimes, he doesn't quite act like one.
